Diary Entry #30
21 August 2007
Hi everyone!
Hope you are all well and happy!
Now I know lots of you are wondering how the netball game went….
Well, I didn’t even get to play!! The other team forfeited!!
I have to be honest, I was really quite relieved!!!
Then the next game was at a time that I couldn’t go! (Phew) Ha Ha!!
Anyway, I will let you know if I do manage to wander onto the court!! (I really do want to actually……Just wanna have fun!!)
We recently had a big rehearsal for the Gympie Muster concert next Saturday. It went really well…. Finally figured out which songs to play. Some old ones and lots of new ones. Should be so much fun!!
Still haven’t decided what to wear yet!! As you know, this is always a girls biggest dilemma!!
Now this is supposed to be a surprise, but I am going to make a surprise appearance on Beccy’s show and she will return the favour! Should be a lot of fun too!!
We just had the loveliest weekend! Just hung out at home and went and spent some time with friends for Sunday lunch and table tennis! (Rod plays in an A grade comp with this friend so I think they went very easy on the wives for the sake of marriage!!)
This week I am so excited because our new lounges are arriving!! Woo hoo!!! The only problem is this past weekend we have had so much rain, I am a bit worried about the delivery truck getting down and back out of our very rough dirt driveway!!! May have to put them off for a week until the mud turns back to dirt!!!
I am also just a little concerned that I have bought the lounges sight unseen!! They look great in the pics! I am sure they will be beautiful!!! (Hoping……)
Anyway, Jackson has just made a big jumping pit out of mattresses and cushions and is calling out for help!! I think one of the big cushions has sucked him in like a giant marshmallow!!
My new tip for the week this week is to relax!!!
I am really concentrating on enjoying the simple things like the sound of the rain on our tin roof, like lying in bed and listening to my breathing and really letting go of any worries. I like to focus on all the good stuff to finish off my day. My beautiful friend Susie gave me a gratitude journal and every night I write in it 5 things that I am grateful and happy for. Some days it’s easier than others to think of stuff, but one thing I always put in it is how happy I am to be in my beautiful bed!!
Ahh another big day.
Relax, spoil yourself.
You deserve it!!
Until next week!
Live well, Laugh often and love much!
Love Gina x

Diary Entry #29

Hi everyone!!
Thanks for reading again.
This week has been just another week of domestic goddess in training duties!
We are not on the road at the moment because the other two Songbirds are both overseas, so it has been lovely settling into home life for a few weeks!
I think last week I forgot to tell you about a wonderful man by the name of Frankie T who organised a fundraising event in Sydney to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation. What a lovely big hearted man!! He is a community radio announcer with an absolute passion for country music. Frankie decided he wanted to help out my favourite charity and put together a concert featuring many of Australias best country artists and lots of young up and coming ones too! Beccy Cole and Sara Storer were our special surprise guests. (of course we did some of our Songbirds songs!) Adam Harvey was a highlight. Stuie French and Camille Te Nahu were real crowd pleasers and many others made up a great afternoon of entertainment. When Frankie gave me the cheque to present to the Leukaemia Foundation, he almost had tears in his eyes, and expressed his disappointment that it wasn’t more! (Let me tell you, it was heaps!!) Anyway, I said, “Frankie, don’t you worry. It is wonderful! You are wonderful and if there were more people in this world like you, it would be a much better world to live in.”
One of the things I love the most about my job and the charity work we do is the beautiful people we get to meet! Frankie, you are sure one of them!!
This week I have been trying to decide what the next single from my album should be. It’s a big decision because this is the one that will probably be nominated for the Golden guitar awards!! I really can’t decide!!! Please feel free to write in if you have a suggestion!! Until then, I will just relax on it and let it come!! These days I really try not to put too much heat on myself and worry about all that stuff.
Well it’s approaching my bedtime so I will sign off for now and hope you have a wonderful week!
Tomorrow I have a netball game to think about! Yes netball!! My best friend of 28 years Nat put my name down to play (we use to play when we were kids) Oh my I hope she told them I am very average!!! ) She said to me not to worry because one if the other girls has such sore hips, she can’t even bend down to pick up the ball!!! Maybe I will fit in!!! Oh should be hilarious!!
I will let you know next week!!
Until then
Live well, Laugh often and Love much!!

Diary Entry #28
3 August 2007
Hi again!
Thanks for reading.
It has been so lovely lately to meet so many of you who read this letter while I have been out on the road with the Songbirds. It really does give me a clear picture of who is reading and what you might like me to write!
Well this morning I laughed at myself in the kitchen when Rod popped down from the studio (he often works in the early morning hours). There I was washing up in my dressing gown and slippers, and Rod leant in to kiss my makeup free sleepy face and I said, “Wow, I have become the typical house wife! Look at me!” We laughed and Rod said that’s just how he loves me! He has always rathered the glamour free me! He is so beautiful!
Yesterday started out as a glorious day. I dropped Jackson to pre school and let them know that I was a little concerned about my beautiful little boy because he had his 4 year old immunisation the day before, but he seemed to be totally fine. I rang and checked on him and he was having a wonderful day!
Then Beccy (Cole) and I went for the most breath taking walk! (Breath taking in both ways!!!) It was a stunningly beautiful walk through the bush down to a gorgeous secluded beach. The walk back up was breath taking in the other way!!! Very hard!!! Ooh I loved it!! We sat on a rock high above the ocean and meditated for a while!! Very good for the soul!!
I just love Beccy so much! We are such great friends and I am so happy to have her in my life!!! She is one of those friends who you don’t see every single day, but when we do we just click! We have celebrated 14 birthdays together!! Long time!!!
I then called into the studio to see Rod who is working on the winner of Telstra road to Tamworth, Morgan. Sounds fantastic!! Very modern and to me quite Keith Urban inspired. I quickly grabbed some lunch for them (leftovers from the night before!!) and then headed down to the house where one of my best friends Susie came over for a visit.
Susie is my soul sister. She is Jackson’s best friend Eli’s Mum and we all get on famously!! Unfortunately Susie is toying with the idea of moving back to her homeland New Zealand. I am trying my hardest to be supportive but also secretly trying to point out all the reasons she should stay !!! I would miss her so much if she left, I don’t know how I would cope and my little boy would be quite heart broken to lose his best buddy!!!
Sometimes in life, very rarely actually, you meet someone who just fits. Someone who you feel like you have known your whole life. To me that is Susie. You really can count your very best friends on just one hand can’t you?
I know this may sound unusual to all of you who are reading this who know me because I am famous, but I have a few people in my life who met me just as Jacksons Mum and Rod’s wife and the fame means nothing to them. I love those relationships!! Sometimes it’s nice to be popular amongst your friends just because you’re a lovely Mum or lovely wife and couple! We have some friends who we have met over the last few years when I haven’t been working who have never even heard me sing or heard Rod play!! That’s quite weird isn’t it?? It’s been kinda fun over the last few months inviting them to the shows and letting them see the other side of our world!!
Anyway, Dear Susie if you are reading this, I love you and can’t imagine my life without you!!! (But I really do understand the need to be near family too!!!)
Ok, after that very long winded story, the next thing in my day was going to pick up my little boy from pre school.
He burst into tears when I walked in!!! Got a very high fever and became very listless and not himself. I was so upset, we just cuddled in the playground for a few minutes and them I carried him to the car. (I drove off leaving his school bag in the carpark!!) When I got him home he just lay there. I panicked and rang our lovely chemist, George and asked was this normal and he said not to worry!! This was all typical symptoms of having immunisation. Anyway after a very worrying night he woke up full of beans and his happy little lively self! So he is at pre school now playing with Eli and I am at the hospital sitting next to my beautiful Dad.
This year has been full of curve balls for our family. You all know that my beautiful Mum and Dad both have had major surgery and came out with flying colours.
Well this morning Mum had a scan under anesthetic and wonderful news just now!!!! It was all clear!!!
We all cried tears of joy!
Mum and Dad were so worried. So now they are at home enjoying each other (I think Dad even had a beer with lunch!!) My parents are just so in love. I love them more than words can even say. When you have to face these trying times with your Mum and Dad it really is so hard. I am so grateful it all went well and will say a prayer of thanks tonight.
My mum and Dad are so inspiring and wonderful!!! I tell them I love them every day. Always have always will.
Life can be so fragile. You never know what’s around the corner. That’s why I think it is so important to tell people you love that you love them every time you see them or talk to them!!,
I always do.
Please call your family and tell them you love them!
Until next week
Live well, Laugh often and love much!
Lots of love
Gina x
