Diary Entry #32
23 September 2007
Hi everyone!
Hope this letter finds you well and happy.
Since we last spoke we travelled over to Adelaide for a Songbirds concert.
The girls and I had so much fun shopping in the city!!
There really is nothing like shopping with your girlfriends!
I bought a new top that I wore to the Industry Achiever Awards on Monday night. I was nominated for Entertainer of the Year but didn’t expect at all to win (in fact I tried really hard to get out of going to the awards because we had been away from our little boy for 3 days and I just wanted to be the one to tuck him into bed!!) Anyway, it was a great night.
I was so excited when James Gillard (Guitar player in my band, Lee’s band, and player on many of our favourite albums. Ooh also member of wonderful band The Flood) anyway, when James won musician of the year!! Rod won last year and we were so proud of James!! He is such a great muso and the loveliest bloke!!
Rod and I stayed down in the city that night and had a lovely romantic time. Normally when we are away, it’s for work, not a social occasion and it’s lovely every now and then to just take a moment to appreciate each other.
Rod was also quite excited that day because he got voted on to the board of the CMAA (country music association of Australia)
I know he will be so good for them. He really just wants to make a difference and help take care of the future of the Australian country music industry.
I am obviously very proud of my husband!!!!
Now remember ages ago I said I was trying to get new lounges for our house?? I am soooooo excited!! They are arriving any minute!! The only teeny weeny little fear I am having is I have bought them sight unseen!!
Never sat in them or saw the colour……. You would be a little nervous too wouldn’t you???
I think Rod is a bit sceptical!!!
Well I will let you know next week!!
We are currently thinking of a concept for my new video clip. The single has been chosen,
THANK YOU to all of you who got online and told me what you thought!!!! You really helped us make our decision.
The song is “The Truth About Lies”
I love shooting videos!! Can’t wait!!
This one will be a serious one. (Obviously) After my last attempt at humour!!! (Stepped Right in It)
Should be ready in a few weeks!!
Anyway I have to go and pack for our Toowoomba concert on the weekend with the Songbirds.
Can’t wait to see my favourite cousin and Aunty and Uncle. It’s my home town so should be great!!
Until next week!!!
Live well, Laugh often and Love Much
Love Gina x

Diary Entry #31
4 September 2007
Hi everyone
Thanks so much for tuning in again!!
Well since we last spoke, I performed at the Gympie Country Music Muster, or the Mudster as the locals were calling it!
It was mud and floods!!!
I have never seen anything like it!! The only way to get to the site was in 4wd. Luckily we had a feeling it was going to be bad so we swapped our hire car for a 4wd on the drive up from Brisbane airport.
Rod played with Beccy Cole on the Friday night and the weather was so bad they had to move her show off the mainstage (huge outdoor stage with many thousands in the crowd) to an indoor theatre. It was disappointing for her because I know how much she loves the big crowd! (sometimes up to 50,000.!!!)
Anyway, by the next day, the rain had eased a little and the big mainstage was opened again. The problem that was created by venue and time changes all over the place was lots of the musicians play in many different bands, so some of their shows clashed, but I think it all worked out ok in the end, though some people travelled a all the way there and didn’t even get to perform!
I felt so sorry for the organisers and for the people who had bought tickets and couldn’t even get to see the shows!!
Our spot on Saturday night was so much fun!! Somehow the rain held off and the crowd was incredible!! By Saturday night they had been through so much already, that I think they decided they should all just really make the most of it and enjoy themselves.
I love my band so much! They did such a great job!!
Beccy Cole came on with me and did a guest spot which was the highlight for me!
We sang “Old Man Emu” Fun!!!
Now I know I told you last week that I was also going to sing with Bec at her show, but it was almost impossible to get to the venue on her night. They were only ferrying artists and their bands through with no extra room for guests so I decided to stay in and have an early one!!
Anyway, now we’re all home and dry!!! We had a great week that was capped off wonderfully with Fathers Day! We all went on a picnic with friends and family and had a beautiful time. Just coincidentally, we ran into the other 2 Songbirds at the park!!! We are all looking forward to this weekend in Adelaide. We have a concert over there. It’s been a few weeks since we did a show and we all really miss it!!!
Jackson and I spoiled Rod on Fathers Day with home made presents, chocolate and lots of love!!!
Anyway, I hope you all had a great Fathers Day!
Tell your Dad how much you love him!!! I do everyday!!
My Dad means so much to me. I think he is the best Dad in the world!!! (other than my husband of course!!!)
Until next week
Live well, Laugh often and Love much
Lots of love
Gina x
