Gina News December 08
Hi everyone.
Well I can’t believe it’s Christmas time already! My favourite time of year!!
For the first year ever, I am actually organised early and just looking forward to spending some quality time with my beautiful little family and our wonderful circle of friends.
Our family tradition will continue this year where all of our family come to our home for presents and a huge Christmas feast! I can’t wait!!
Our little boy is so excited and has many questions about Santa this year! We are trying our hardest to give great answers!!
When I look back on 2008 and my whole career actually, I fondly remember all of the wonderful moments. We have been lucky enough to tour all over this beautiful country of ours and to many parts of the world. I have toured with Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofersen, Keith Urban, Lee Kernaghan, The Songbirds and many more while Rod has been lucky enough to be on almost all of those shows too but also tour with Trisha Yearwood, Leeanne Rimes, Pam Tillis, and many other international and Australian artists, but we can proudly say that we had our biggest and proudest career highlight recently when we performed at a little fund raising concert at Newcastle that we have been doing every year for 10 years now for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Now the reason it was our favourite moment ever was, because it was our little boy Jacksons first ever concert!!
We had no babysitters this day, so we took him with us. Rod said to him, “Why don’t you play your little eukele with us at our concert?”
Jackson asked how many people would be there? We said it was just a small concert, only 200 or 300 people. Well his question was would all of the people up the back be able to hear him?? We said sure!! We will put a microphone up for you!!
He then suggested that perhaps he could bring his electric fender guitar or his drum kit so he could be louder!! We said that would be great but we couldn’t fit it in our car! (wink wink!!)
He walked out on stage with us and played beautifully! You could not wipe the smile off our faces! He stopped us half way through a song to notify the sound man that he thought his mic was not on!! We had to fix that!!!! (well he has been born and raised in a recording studio, so he does know his stuff!!)
Then someone requested that Rod sing a song. Well he got up and walked off! The crowd roared with laughter. He walked back on halfway through Rod’s song and said, “Mummy, when will you be singing again?” We laughed so hard when he walked back on and set up to play again once I started singing! Now don’t get me wrong he is so proud of his Daddy and thinks he is the best guitar player in the world but he also loves it when Mummy sings!!!
He even spoke into the microphone when I asked him to tell the people who gave him his red eukele. He answered “Lee Kernahan, he’s much famouser than my Mum!!”
Rod and I felt like the Carter Family!! I had no idea the joy we would feel to preform together as a family!! Never have I felt so proud!! I think our little boy is going to turn out just like his gorgeous, talented Daddy!!! Though, he has refused to step on the stage since, so perhaps it was a one off performance!! We don’t mind at all!! We are just happy to have an incredible , happy and healthy little boy…..musician…garbageman…..doesn’t matter!!
So there you have it! The highlight of our year!!
I hope you all had a wonderful year and here is wishing you a safe and happy Christmas with the ones you love.
May 2009 bring you peace, love, happiness and all your dreams come true!!
Live well, Laugh often and Love much!!!
Lots of love
