Diary Entry #40 - Tamworth News!
30 January 2008
Well another festival has come and gone and I still feel like I am recovering!
Admittedly, staying out with Kasey, Beccy, Lou Bradley and Adam Harvey’s wife Kathy until 5.00 am after the awards on Saturday night hasn’t helped!!!
We had so much fun!! I am pretty sure we all caught a bus from one after awards party to another in the wee hours with people who were on their way to work!!!
It has been a long, long time since I have stayed out so late!!! (Well and truly before our son Jackson was born!!)
As you know I was nominated for 4 Golden Guitars this year along with my buddy Beccy Cole. Well we went home empty handed, but we were so proud of our good friend Sara Storer for her wins and honestly I was thrilled for new comer Dianna Corcoran to win Female Vocal! She is a beautiful singer and a lovely person!!!
One of the funniest moments of the festival was just this Sunday morning when Beccy and I looked at each other through bleary blood shot eyes and she said to me, “Well, didn’t we have a lot of fun for a couple of losers!!” Ha ha!! Well we did and we truly have no hard feelings or disappointment.
I was so proud and happy for Adam Harvey when he won Album of the Year too!!
He is a rare talent and his album is awesome!! Of course my beautiful husband Rod picked up a gong for that album too because he is his producer so our little family got to bring home another Golden Guitar anyway!! (I said to our little boy Jackson today that he might like to take Daddies Golden Guitar to pre school for news on Friday but he said “No thank you Mummy, I would rather take my remote control Dinosaur!”
I said ok then!!!)
This years “Walk of Life” for the Leukaemia Foundation was another roaring success!!!
I am so thankful to all the big stars who came and walked with me and of course to the thousands of people who walked too!!! We raised over $15 thousand!!!
The Songbirds Show was also a great success!! We sold out and had an absolute ball!! Thank you for coming if you are one of the many who told me they read this!!!
I absolutely loved my Fanclub morning tea too!! It’s always a highlight for me!! So small and intimate and fun!!!!!
Wow now let me tell you how excited I was to meet and sing with Guy Sebastian!!!
I was actually really nervous to meet him but he is just the nicest person!! And wow what a singer!! I was so thrilled because as we sang of course I could hear him in my in ear monitors!! What a thrill!! First rehearsal through I just couldn’t take my eyes off him doing all his funky little dance moves!!! I was in heaven until my manager came up to me and said, “Ah Gina….. you need to look at the cameras out the front too, not just Guy!!” Ah I laughed!!! Didn’t realise how mesmerised I was!!
For those of you who don’t have a clue what I am talking about, I got to sing a duet with Guy on the Australian Country Music Awards and I am still on a high!!!
It will be on channel 10 nationally this Sunday!! We will be having a little party to watch!! You will get to see lot’s of my wonderful husband Rod McCormack too because he is the musical director of the awards!! (I am so proud of him!!!)
Anyway, gotta go to bed now and try to catch up!!!
I will see you on the tele on Sunday!!!
Thanks for reading!
Until next time,
Take care of yourselves and the ones you love!!
Don’t forget to tell them you love them!!
Love Gina X
Ps Kim and Carol from the Greencards if you’re reading this I love you and miss you heaps!!!

Diary Entry #39

Happy New Year!!!
I don’t know about you, but to me this year has a great feel about it already!!!!
I always love the new beginning of a new year and I think this year is going to be wonderful!!!! Don’t know why really I just do!!
Hope you had fun ringing in the new year!!
We did!! I normally fall asleep at about ten o clock!!! But this year we had a ball!!
Rod and I went up to the Woodford Folk Festival in Qld with the Greencards. (A wonderful band made up of Carol Young, Kim Warner (Australians) and Eamon Mcgloughlin (an Englishman) They all live in Nashville and came out to do some shows in Oz. Rod (my hubby) plays guitar with them when he can. They are a bluegrass band and absolutely incredible!!!!
Anyway, they had some shows at the festival and I tagged along for fun. On New Years Eve we went and saw a band that played all Beatles stuff and we sang all night with a thousand other muddy people!!!!
Best New Years I have had in a long time!!
I will try to get some footage up that Eamon recorded on the night for you to check out!!!
Hope your Christmas day was nice too. We had a great one with all our family over here at our house and of course Jackson had a ball!!
Santa was very good to him!!! Though we couldn’t believe it, he slept in!!! He is the most patient little boy so after he finally got up (can you believe it??) he opened his Santa stocking very slowly!!!! Then the presents under the tree downstairs with such control for an almost 5 year old!! Now when I was a kid, I would rip the paper off everything as quick as I could!!! Very lucky for us he has his Daddies patient gene!!
His favourite present from Santa was his Fender guitar and amp!!!! He asked for a black one because he told us that they are the loudest!!
We have a very loud house now as you can imagine!!!!
Next week is Jacksons 5th Birthday so I am madly planning a pirate party!!!
Should be fun!! I am gonna paint a beard on everyone as they walk in and try to talk them into having a bandana on their head!! I think kids will come in costume but parents are in for a surprise!! We’re gonna walk the plank and hunt for treasure!!
I think I am more excited than our little boy!!
Now between all of this of course I am trying to get ready for the Tamworth Country Music Festival!!!!
Packing and buying makeup and clothes!!! It is a very busy time in our house but very exciting too!!!
Sometimes I do wish though that there was a little more time between Christmas, Jacksons birthday and the Festival, but there are some things you just can’t change!!!
This year I am really going to try and enjoy the moment. One of my many New Year resolutions is to enjoy the now. Be in the moment!!!!
Just enjoy everything as it comes and not panic too much about what’s next!!
I just want to have a fantastic New Year and I really hope you do to!!!
I am looking forward to seeing some of you at the festival!!
Don’t forget to come and say hi if you see me anywhere!! (Especially need some moral support and cuddles on the red carpet at the awards show!!)
Can’t wait for our fan club morning tea too! I know lots of you come to that and you know it’s always one of my favourite moments of the festival!
Anyway, I sincerely wish you all happiness, health and lots of love for 2008!
Take care of you and the ones you love!
Lots of Love Gina x
