Diary Entry #41
4 March 2008
Well hello everyone!!
Long time since we spoke!! Sorry about that!!!
Life is busy as you know!!
Anyway, this year so far has been a full on one already!!
Between doing shows with the Songbirds, including an awesome show at the Perth City Muster and a tribute night to the wonderful Michel Rose (one of Australias finest musicians who broke his arm, so we raised some money for him!) it has been fun!
The Perth City Muster was huge!! Very hot on stage looking straight into the sun on a big outdoor stage with 10 000 fans out the front sweating it out!!
I just love Perth. Beccy and I went for a big run and then sat out in the sun and had a huge brekky the day of the show!! Very relaxing. Did some recreational shopping and had some margaritas and wine in between on our day off!! Lots of fun!!
The fundraiser night for Michel Rose was a great night too!! I was so thrilled to see that not only did the fans come out to support him but every big star was there too!!
Michel is a loved man!!!
This week we are off to Coffs Harbour, Lismore and Twin Towns!
I love that little tour!! Should be fun!! I get to see one of my best friends Katrina while I am up in Qld so we always love that!!
On the family front, our little boy Jackson had to have a little op last week so I was quite stressed out!!
All is well. He just had to have minor surgery on his ears so he doesn’t get so many earaches anymore!! I am really hoping this winter will be our best because so far in his little life he always gets lots of ear infections every winter!!
Poor little thing!!
All went well though so that is great to have behind us!
It has been a sad few weeks with the loss of one of Australia’s true legends, Smoky Dawson.
I was lucky enough very early in my career in the early nineties to record a duet with Smoky called, “Now and Forever”
What a wonderful man he was! I used to see him every now and then over the years and he would always break into song and we would do a rendition of our song!!
I think that when Smoky looks back on his life he would be so proud.
Not only of his musical and television successes, but his marriage. He had the most beautiful marriage. His eyes would sparkle whenever he was near his wife Dotty.
They simply adored each other! It was beautiful to see.
I will miss you Smoky. But I will learn from you too. I will try to enjoy every moment like you did and I will treasure my husband. Love, respect and adoration is what I think of when I think of you!
Smoky you make us proud to be entertainers and you showed us how to do it with love and passion!!! You showed us how to be in a relationship with love, respect, adoration and passion too.
What a man Smoky Dawson. What a man you were.
We are all better to have known you.
Love Gina
“Now and Forever.”
